SCULPTING HERDWICK FLEECE ~ FLOPSY BUNNIES D418
Ask us about or request a place on this Course
We will take inspiration from Joss’ sculpture “And Peter”. This was the first in a series entitled ‘Moral Fibre – Mrs Heelis’s Herdwick’ and was her dedication to Beatrix Potter and the imaginary and real iconic creatures that still shape our love of the Lakes today. First shown at “Wow – wonder of wool” Gallery Rheged, Woolfest regulars may remember him from the Carolyn Rawlinson Memorial Stall display last year. Learn how to control and combine various states of Herdwick fleece (loose, carded, tops) to create your own little bunny needlefelted sculpture. All abilities.

Sunday 22 September
2 – 5 pm
After World War I, many ‘war artists’ adapted their skills of landscape painting to more passive forms of recording the British landscape. Ravilious, Nicholson and John Piper were remarkable in capturing a particular quality of topography that shifted between representational and abstracted values. This course compares many paintings of different styles and techniques – all are inspirational and uplifting.
