John will introduce you to a variety of meditative techniques and help you to understand the concepts underlying the practice.  Sessions will include periods of seated practice using ordinary chairs.  No special postures are required.  Techniques and concepts will come mainly from the Buddhist tradition but no attempt will be made to promote any particular faith tradition – meditation is of universal relevance.

Friday 7 to Sunday 9 June

Having to ‘say a few words’ can happen quite often in everyday life.  Some people find it easy; for others it is a daunting task.  There are all kinds of occasions when we are asked to speak in public, make a presentation or have to attend an interview. Good public speaking is a skill which can be taught and who better to do that than a retired judge.  The course requires no prior preparation.  It involves a great deal of student participation.
